Let’s Celebrate! Celebrate 2006! on June 10th and 11th of 2006, there was a tremendous success with over 3000 players, parents and volunteers participating in the celebration of the Club's 40th anniversary. There were many exciting events, great food, and good times including some fantastic soccer action on the field and inside the World Cup tent. The Soccer Freestlyers and Splash 'N Boots were big hits with the kids and the Toronto Lady Lynx put on a great show for spectators against the Club's women's all star team. The Tides Mini Soccer festival presented by CIBC on the Sunday saw 10 teams participate in a mini tournament all for the love of the game. The Club was pleased to welcome special guests, M.P.P Liz Sandals, Mayor Kate Quarrie, Guy Bradbury Executive Director of the Ontario Soccer Association, the Toronto Lady Lynx and Alison Barclay, daughter of the late Alex Barclay, one of the founding members of the Club and creator of the Club motto, Age Quod Agis. The Club was especially happy to see founding member and first President of the Club Mr. John Bamber in atttendance. More than 200 volunteers assisted in the success of the event. The organizers wish to thank all of them for their efforts and everyone else for coming out and enjoying the weekend. The Club also wishes to thank all the sponsors and supporters who made it possible, particularly Guelph Hyundai, Magic / CJOY, Guelph Tribune and The Cappucino Man. |
