Technical Department

IAN ADAIR- Technical Director 

Ian Adair, originally from Glasgow Scotland, lives in Oakville with his wife Avril. They have two children. His daughter graduated from the Univ. of Guelph, and currently lives in London, England. His son graduated from Niagara University, NY, having received a soccer scholarship.

Ian's extensive playing, coaching and refereeing background has contributed to the philosophy he brings to this position:

* Be passionate about the game and stay fit.

* Work constantly on improving your skills.

* Play vigorously with sportsmanlike conduct while striving to be the best you can be.

* Show respect for your team-mates, your opponents, the officials, and the coaches.

* Remember that it's not just about winning- soccer is about moulding character, team-building and leadership skills.

MAURICIO FLORES- Technical Coach 

Mauricio is orginally from Mexico, where he played professionally for Atlante, Neza and Jaguares. It is also where he bagan his coaching career in 1991 with the Tecamachalco Soccer Club in Mexico City.

Mauricio continued with coaching after his playing days, and can list the following experience and education achievements.

MITCHELL APOLLON- House League Technical Coach 

Mitchell joins Guelph Soccer as the House League Technical Coach with the responsibility of overseeing the technical improvement of our House League coaches, players and program.

Mitchell was born in Haiti and moved to Canada in the early seventies. During his college years in Montreal, he played soccer for Saint Laurent College and then semi pro for Confinium Soccer of the Quebec League. Before moving to Ontario, he coached the Senior Womens team from 1986 to 1988.

From the early 2000s, Mitchell has had an extensive coaching career at North Mississauga Soccer club. He was Head Coach of the 1995s Boys competitive team from U8 to U12 during which time the team reached the Elite level. He also assisted coaches as a Mentor as well as working in the Panther Development Program, and Head Coach and Mentor for the Boys U9 development program. Mitchell was also involved in the mentoring of House League coaches.

Mitchell is a holder of the Pre- B coaching licence, has participated in the Coerver Coaching methodology, child psychology, team management, and health and fitness programs. Mitchell has worked with Guelph Soccer since 2007 and has worked on a variety of skill development programs.

Mitchell is married to his wife Jan, and they have a son named Jordan.

STEPHEN McLEAN- Technical Coach 

Stephen is originally from England, but now lives with his wife in Mississauga.He presently works as a Vice Principal within the Toronto District School Board, and dedicates his spare time to coaching soccer. His coaching philosophy is "to enable each and every player to reach their full potential".

ALAN LOWE- Technical Coach 

Alan lives in Mississauaga with his wife, and has been coaching soccer for over 30 years. His coaching philosophy is to teach young players in a way that helps them to develop their skills and knowledge of the game, as well as their overall fitness level.

Don Ferguson has joined Guelph Soccer recently and will be responsible for working with the goalkeepers within our club. Don has extensive playing and coaching experience, the highlights of which are outlined below:
