Doug started his athletic career as most young athletes in high school, lettering in varsity football, wrestling, and track and field. During those years, Doug won several accolades highlighted by wrestling team MVP, and WCSSAA City Wide All Star Football Team. Doug then attended the University of Guelph where he earned two athletic letters in both varsity football and wrestling. In 1990, Doug joined the Our Lady of Lourdes football program and coached 8 seasons, highlighted by two senior and three junior football championships from 1991 to 1995. In 1995, Doug accepted a position as the Strength and Conditioning coach with the Guelph Storm Hockey Club and over these 13 years has recorded over 35,000 hours of training time. Doug holds his Level-3 soccer certification with the OSA and a University of Guelph and Canadian Fitness Professionals Certificate "CAN-FIT PRO" designation. Doug is currently an assistant coach with a Rep soccer team which has gone 40-1-1 over the past three years in the LDYSL and WOYSL. The team will play in the OYSL next season. Doug has over 25 years experience in the strength and conditioning field and has trained over 200 professional, elite and amateur athletes. To date, 27 of his clients are playing, or have played in the NHL. In September 2008, Doug was appointed an Assitant National Conditioning Coach for Wrestle Canada. Doug's appointment will run until the 2012 Olympics. In March 2009, Doug accepted a position as the University of Guelph Mens and Womens Soccer Conditioning Coach. In the Fall of 2009, Doug was hired by Guelph Soccer to introduce a Conditioning Program to the club. "I am thrilled to be part of Guelph Soccers training staff.
