REGISTRATION QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Q1: What day and time is my child playing?

A1: Please refer to the chart for the appropriate season.  Coaches usually call their team a couple of days before the start of the season.

Q2: Where is my child playing?

A2: Schedules are posted on the website.  A map of the fields in Guelph is available here too.  You will receive a schedule from the coach at your first game or at a meeting with him or her.

Q3: My child is turning four (4) this year. Can I register him/her?

A3: Yes.  The Club accepts registrations for children turning four (4) in the year that you play.  This is how to figure out what division you can be in.  Take the current year (2009) minus the year you were born in (1993).  The answer is 15 or in soccer terms, you are a player who is Under 15 (sometimes shortened to just U15)

Q4: Can I use a credit or debit card to pay at Guelph Soccer?

A4: Yes.  You can use Master Card, Visa & Debit Cards as method of payments.

Q5: Can I post date a cheque?

A5: Although Guelph Soccer does take cheques as a method of payment, regretfully, we will not accept post dated cheques for any reason.

Q6: I would like to make a special payment arrangement. How do I do that?

A6: The Club will not accept partial or special payment arrangements; however Guelph Soccer does support the Children's Foundation.  For more information on financial assistance call the Guelph Soccer office 519-824-2199 or visit the Children's Foundation page on our website.

Q7: How can I register by phone, fax or email?

A7: At this time you cannot register by phone. If you wish to register by fax, download the REGISTRATION FORM along with the CREDIT CARD AUTHORIZATION FORM through the registration part of our website.  Fax both forms to the Club at 824-0917.
As of this date, the Club is not equipped to accept registrations by email.

Q8: Can I have my child on the same team as _____?

A8: Sponsors may request one child or coach per sponsorship.  Coach & child will automatically be placed on the same team unless otherwise specified.
No other requests will be accepted.

Q9: Can I request a coach?

A9: The Club will not honour special requests other than as stated above.

Q10: Do I need more than one registration form for my family?

A10: Guelph Soccer is currently updateing their database. Therefore all registrants must have a registration form filled out.   You will need proof of age (birth certificate) if you are new to our program, or if you have not yet done so to this point.
If you choose to register by mail or fax, the registration form can be used to register up to 2 children from the same family.  If you have more than 2 children, an additional form can be downloaded here or you can get another at the Club House.

Q11: I did not receive a form in the mail and didn’t see an ad in the paper. Is it too late to register?

A11: Please check the website’s registration page for the days and times for registration.  Some programs fill up fast so register early.

Q12: I’ve heard the terms “Rep”, “Select”, “All Star”, “Travel” all to describe teams from Guelph that play against clubs from other cities.

A12: The terms historically refer to the competition level of the team.  An “All-Star” team is made up of the best players from House League.  “Select” used to refer to a team of players who played in the Inter-City Soccer League made of teams from the local area.  “Rep” used to refer to teams that played in the South Region Soccer League or higher with teams from further regions of the province.  Each is a step up the competition and talent ladder.  For simplicity purposes, GSC now refers to all these teams as members of the “Travel Program”.   All of these teams represent Guelph Soccer at tournaments and in leagues against teams from all over the province.
The term “All-Star” has been retained to describe when a new temporary team of the best players from a House League division are chosen to enter tournaments and compete.  The hope is that the added experience may propel these players up the Pyramid of Play and improve their development.  Therefore, all other teams that play in the leagues mentioned above as well as the adult competitive teams that represent this Club (Guelph Rangers – Men and Guelph Royals – Women) are called “Travel Teams”.
