2025 MilkUP Ontario Cup – U21 Women’s Final’s Recap

The U21 Girls Final of the 2025 MilkUP Ontario Cup delivered a tense and tightly contested battle on Sunday, July 20th at the Zanchin Automotive Soccer Centre Stadium. Our very own Guelph Gryphons faced off against North York FC Emery Blizzards in dramatic fashion.

The match started with immediate intensity, as North York Emery fired off a shot in the opening minute that flew just over the crossbar. Guelph responded with a long-range effort from Adrienne Fraser in the 21st minute, but it was calmly caught by North York goalkeeper Alegra Black.

The first half remained evenly matched, with both teams showing strong defensive structure and composure, resulting in a 0–0 scoreline at halftime.

The second half brought more action and chances. North York continued to attack, forcing big saves from our goalkeeper Mackenzie Monteiro. Monteiro came up big multiple times, confidently coming off her line to smother dangerous plays.

Guelph’s best chances came from Miranda DiSalvo in the 64th minute, who hit the side netting, and Laura Gemin in the 72nd, whose strike from distance was handled comfortably by Black. Guelph nearly broke through in the 84th minute, but Halle Pulley’s shot was again denied by the steady hands of Alegra Black.

With neither side able to find a breakthrough after 90 minutes, the final went to penalties. Both teams exchanged composed finishes before Guelph finally edged ahead, winning the shootout 6–5 and securing the U21 Girls Ontario Cup championship.

A special shoutout goes to Mackenzie Monteiro who were awarded player of the match.
