He then completed his clinical rotation in Buffalo, where he served as senior clerk and developed/taught classes in modern methodologies in exercise rehabilitation for students and staff. During this time, he travelled to McMaster University on weekends to complete his Contemporary Medical Acupuncture certification. Since then, Dr. Ben has completed additional certifications to become a Neurofunctional Sports Performance Practitioner (advanced acupuncture program) and Functional Sports Medicine provider (nutrition and lab assessment).

The Guelph Soccer Club is pleased to announce a new partnership with ION Health & Performance to support the health and development of our athletes through improved education and resources around health and performance.

Through this collaboration, Dr. Ben Holtom will work with Guelph Soccer to provide guidance, resources, and practical strategies that help players and families better understand treatment, training, and nutrition, and how they contribute to performance, recovery, and overall well-being.

This partnership reflects Guelph Soccer’s continued commitment to supporting the holistic development of athletes both on and off the field. By equipping players with knowledge about fueling their bodies properly, we aim to help them build healthy habits that will support their performance and long-term love of the game.

Dr. Ben Holtom will be responding to questions submitted by Guelph Soccer players, coaches, and parents, which will be distributed directly to Guelph Soccer members, and posted here on this webpage.
